Apple's Steve Jobs and Timothy Cook

One of the biggest news today is the resignation of Steve Jobs as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Apple. In his  letter, Jobs announced that Timothy Cook would be the new CEO. Jobs will not be leaving Apple and also told  that he would be serving as Apple's Chairman of the Board. Timothy Cook is known as Apple's Operations whiz. I read an article which was written way back 2008 by CNN Money's senior writer Adam Lashinsky about Tim Cook. The article is quite long but is a very nice read. If you want to read and know about a genius behind Steve Jobs, here is a link to that article.

I enjoyed reading it. Hopefully you will.

Jones Cup: Iran is Champion Once Again!

Hamed Haddadi performed a completely dominating game (35pts, 18 rebounds, and 7 blocks, 40:00 minutes) against Korea and Iran held the title as champions of 33rd edition of William Jones Cup held in Hsinchuang Stadium at Taipei, August 6-14, 2011. Final score was 66-59. The sticky defense of Iran made the usually high-scoring Korean team perform its lowest scoring game in the tournament. During their first meeting on August 8, Korea won with the score 77-59. In this final game, while Haddadi controlled the offense and defended well against Ha Seung Jin under the basket, his teammates gave TJ Moon and the shooters of South Korea the hard time scoring. In the end, Iran prevailed and got its 3rd consecutive Jones Cup title since 2009.

Jones Cup: Smart Gilas Pilipinas Grabs 3rd Place Finish Against Taipei

Smart Gilas of the Philippines won against the home team of Chinese Taipei to bag the 3rd place finish in the 2011 Jones Cup, 72-82. Gilas exploited the height of Marcus Douthit in the paint and the slow start of the Taipei team to lead by 9 at the half. Pretty much in control, Gilas led by as much as 22 after an alley-oop by Japeth Aguilar from Marcio Lassiter at the fourth.

Smart Gilas played with point guard J.V. Casio sitting on the bench due to injury. The win was after the 78-59 defeat from the Haddadi-led Iranian team in the semifinal match which denied the Philippine team of the bid for the 2011 Jones Cup title.
